This Time

A child sat alone,
As he had done
A hundred times before.

But this time …
This time. His God tends to him
And tips His decanter
To his lips
And lines of wine
Dribble and fall.

Don’t deliberate,
Catch them all with your tongue, my child.
Each drop is precious gold,
Pearls from a mindful steward.
