A Poem a Week

Thoughts on a Sunday Afternoon

Light

We may compare ourselves to a man groping in the dark for a switch that will turn on the light of his own being.

I saw a delivery truck that said on its side, by way of advertisement, “What you want is in here.”
I thought that that is the predicament of man in relation to Truth.

Land

Men fight all their lives for scraps of land. Boundaries shift ten feet here, ten feet there. And then they die and discover that the land for which they should all along have been striving has been taken from them.

ABOUT A POEM A WEEK

Each week, to keep the creative juices flowing, I will write a poem. It will probably be a draft and require some additional love, so please be forgiving. I invite you to join me on this journey. I will try to publish something every Monday.

It’s the 1st week of 2024

Fun fact: January 7th is Christmas!
On the coptic calendar, that is. In 2003, Egypt, which is a mostly muslim country, recognized coptic Christmas as a national holiday, to recognize the legitimacy of its coptic christians, which represent about 10% of the population. See? We can all get along.
